CREATIVITY REIMAGINED
In this exploratory motion design piece for my senior project at NYU IDM, I embark on a deep dive into the intangible and complex world of creativity, using the metaphor of a daring diver exploring the ocean's depth, chasing something that is almost within reach. I aim for this piece to help viewers find a spark in their creative process and embark on their own journeys of self-expression and discovery.

Starting Point
This conception of this motion piece started with my complicated relationship with creativity, partially imposter syndrome by not being brought up with a traditional fine arts background but also due to the high standards I hold myself. I questioned this topic a lot: How can I be more creative? Where does it come from? What does being creative mean? How does one actively search for creativity? I finally decided to do research of my own to make find peace.
Ideation & Research

I read books (The Creative Act by Rick Rubin and Catching the Big Fish by David Lynch) on where others explored a similar question about creativity. Each had an interpretation of their own.
Feeling inspired, I decided to come up with my own metaphor/world for Creativity. I started looking within the nature world.

universe
connections, the source, everyone's ideas stored in the same place (Rick Rubin's book)
plants
planting seeds, actively searching / roots searching for water
water
deep, abyss of things we collect, reflections of what we have seen before
fragments
nothing is original, everything is a remix
I interviewed people for a word that they associate with "creativity," preferably with action because it’s an active process instead of waiting for something to happen.
active
curiosity
surprises
nonlinear
squeezing
collect
searching
explore
iterations
essence
openness
fragments of life
frustration
